Welcome to the East Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council

The East Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO, coordinates activities and provides resources to local affiliated trade unions in the construction industry. Our jurisdiction covers Stark, Carroll, Coshocton, Holmes, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties.

This Council supports programs and policies that promote the security and welfare of the general public, seeking to improve the health, safety and economic conditions of ALL building and construction trades workers, represented or not, throughout our jurisdiction.

This Council strives to make job sites safer, deliver apprentice and journey-level training, organize new workers, support legislation that effects working families, and assist in securing improved wages, hours and working conditions through collective bargaining.

Due to the high demand for skilled tradespeople, young Ohioans have a tremendous opportunity to begin training for rewarding, lifelong careers in one of 12 dynamic building and construction trades. Ohio is home to more than 80 Building Trades training facilities where registered apprentices earn competitive pay and benefits while training with skilled journeymen to learn their craft. Working on actual construction sites during the day, Building Trades apprentices are building their futures as they help build their communities.

The East Central Ohio region encompasses the six counties of Carroll, Coshocton, Holmes, Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne, where we are fortunate to have efficient and experienced contractors and subcontractors, as well as an extensively trained and highly-skilled construction work force. Multiple key trade unions, encompassing every facet of the construction industry, have their principal offices in East Central Ohio. These labor organizations sponsor and operate apprenticeship training programs endorsed by the U.S. Department of Labor, ensuring the ongoing availability of highly skilled construction workers. In recent years, developers in the natural gas industries have relied on local contractors and subcontractors to remain cost-efficient while meeting their construction needs and requirements.
